A Pirate dress and a skateboard

Last night I got to experience one of the benefits of having less stuff. Thanks to her routine, Madeleine went to bed without a fuss. Matt was at still at work, and the house was clean!! I found myself with time alone that I could do whatever I wanted.  On the rare occasions that I get time like this, I usually work on my current on-going project. The project I've been working on for the last three or so months has been making Madeleine a quilt, but I was not feeling motivated.  Instead I started looking through my patterns and decided to make Madeleine a dress.

(This is pretty amazing to me, because I don't think I was ever organized enough to find the pattern I wanted, let alone re-use it. I never was able to keep all the pieces together.)

By the time, Matt was home, I had finished it, and watch half the season two of Futurama.

So presenting the pirate dress.

This is the only good picture I could get of the dress. Madeleine was very excited about it this morning, but by the time I got my memory card, she was too busy with life to pose. She had found Matt's skateboard and wanted him to skateboard with her.

Here is the back of the dress. I only had a green zipper, but I think it adds a bit of personality.
Matt and I both love how confident she is. She knows what she is capable of, and we usually can just sit back and watch her. It's amazing some of the things she can do. Today she was able to stand on the skateboard for a spit second.

I still have a closet or two to clean, but we've been making so much progress. My wardrobe is good to go, and we haven't had as many problems with laundry. The kitchen needs touch ups and the bathroom, but right now I love that we have time just to have fun.

Trendy Tot: Inspired by Kate Spade

Twice a year there is a conference of the LDS leaders and they speak to the LDS church for a total of 10 hours over two days.  Matt and I both look forward to these weekends, but neither of us are the best at listening or staying awake the whole time without some type of plan to keep us busy.

For the first two hours, Matt painted a plane model he worked on, while I made Goobie a dress.
We have a Kate Spade shop right across the street from our favorite milkshake place and our wonderful library. A few weeks ago we were walk by the store on a very cold and windy day. I was "a bit" bitter about the cold weather. When I turned the corner, the window display was bursting with lemon yellow and it completely turned around my mood, and since then I've desperately craved some type of lemon clothing in my life.

from lifeunsweetened.com/
Yesterday when I went to Joann's, I found some lemon print and immediately knew I needed to make Madeleine a dress out of it.

I love how it turned out. I used this free pattern. It was easy and simple to make.
Now we have our own little sunshine wandering around our home as we listen together as a family.

Trendy Tot

Today we explored campus a bit before going to a Chinese New Year's celebration in our complex.
Madeleine kept running off to the laundry room for some reason.

We found this awesome little Peru purse in the goodwill pile today.
I picked it up and shortened the strap so Tiny could carry it around.
I love the fact there is a llama on it.

She held my keys in it most of the day.
She would just randomly start shaking it to hear them jingle.

And this photo basically says it all.
So much sass, so "grown up." She glared at our visitors at our house today, only to run after people on campus saying "HI! HI! HI!" until they turned around and said "hi" back to her. Crazy baby.

PS. If you have a really cute outfit of your kid that you want to show off, let me know. I'd love to have other baby fashion up. I don't really think there is enough baby fashion in the world.

Trendy Tot

Rise and Shout the Goober is out!!
(That's all I know from the BYU fight song.)

Matt and I aren't big into sports.
It became pretty apparent when I couldn't quite decide if this was a cougar hat or not.
(...is it?)

My sweet visiting teacher gave it to me, and it's what Madeleine pulled out to wear today.
I figured why not, and paired it with her BYU onsie and ruffle sparkle pants.
I really really love those pants.

Hat: Gift/ Onsie: BYU? (gift)/ Pants: Old Navy

Trendy Tot

We don't dress Madeleine in too many neons,
but when we do...we go all out.
I really love this outfit.
It's so childish and fun.

The first time I tried this combo was on laundry day.
I felt silly putting the two together...
I mean the shirt already has it's own layer of tulle,
did it need a tutu too?

Yes, yes it did.
:)

It's so flirty and girly.
I usually can't stand it to this extent,
but I think it's okay having one outfit like this.

Shirt: Cherokee (Target) / Skirt: Children's Place

Are you neon shy like me?
Or do you go all out?
Most adults seem to avoid wearing them,
but they are super trendy in interior design.

Trendy Tot

Shirt "dress": H&M in 3T, Tights: ebay, Headband: Children's place

Her belt is a headband...does anyone know where I can get a baby belt?

I love her tights. My mom got them for her for her birthday.

Zig zags on the butt!

Let's drop Mum Mum's lens cap in the air conditioner so all of her photos turn out blurry when she lunges to save her stuff.

Kind of don't mind since it keeps her happy...but really my poor camera and nerves.
I'm going to turn into Mrs. Bennet.

Trendy Tot

So there is this blog I randomly found and they do "Trendy Tot" Tuesday I think?
I kind of want to do it too. I just don't think I'll do it every week.

Beads: Thrifted, Shirt: Target, Pants: H&M, Shoes: Thrift (I really wish I knew what brand they were)

I really love it with her pink hat.

Hat: Janie and Jack

Right now Madeleine and I have been nannying this sweet baby in a hotel room for the last week.
We have one more week of watching her.
That's why all the photos are in a hotel.
